The Sonnenblock is the only tower block within the Old City Ring of Munich. Its imposing appearance and the well-known Café Cord, located in the building, are a key feature of Munich's skyline..

During the revitalisation of the building, Schneider was asked to supply a modern hybrid double facade.

All the window elements, some of which are box windows, were fitted with insulation glazing. Their side ventilation elements ensure a supply of fresh air but ensure that noise stays outside.
